{Jewelry Junkie} this is all I'm putting on today...

dainty is the new black.  specifically, dainty rings, which happen to be my new obsession.  sometimes one or two tickles my fancy and other times i will wear as many as i tastefully can.  most of the time i forget that i am even wearing them, which i promise you is a good thing, and when i look down i am quickly reminded about why i love them so much.  it has really started to become a hobby of mine, something new to collect.  my picks from above are the stackable bands from Stella & Dot, because you get both silver and gold to play with, the delicate arrow from Urban Outfitters, and the Madewell fox.  and then there's my newest find, which i can't get enough of, all things Odette NY (top right).  i'll take one of each, please.  visit Polyvore to shop the rest of these awesome rings that i hand-selected and begin building your own collection!

{Old Town} in photos

our favorite pass time on the weekends has become to tour our city and those surrounding it.  Old Town, Alexandria, has become a favorite, which we find ourselves visiting frequently.  they have great window shopping, postcard-like scenery, our new favorite lunch spot Bumblefish, a walk-up style sushi place, and Flower can come, which is naturally the best part!  hope everyone else had a great weekend too! xo

a neon belt

since our "warm front" is apparently over, it's pretty necessary to bundle up if you're going to go outside these days.  this usually consists of a lot of layering covered up by a large coat and/or fur, and surprisingly, i know, the "big coat" look isn't really the style that most of us typically aim for [insert sarcastic tone here].  while browsing the already released, fall 2012 collections (you can never be too prepared for the next season) i discovered the perfect way to solve my winter blues ~ just belt it!  let your style translate from the outside in and try belting your outerwear next time you step out and brave the cold.  personally, I am loving a pop of neon right now to brighten any grim, winter outfits!

Because my hair can be thick and crazy sometimes, I use this Moroccan Hair Oil (who doesn't these days right, but it totally changed my life), by Organix, & Miso Knotty detangler by CIBU.

My mom recently turned me on to Philosophy's line of skin care products, mostly because they were recommended by Oprah.  What better reason to buy something, right?  So far, so great.


Eyebrows are my new thing.  It's time that we do more than just wax, because great eyebrows are the equivalent of the 'finishing touch.'  This is Sephora's best selling eyebrown pencil, with a built in brown brush for blending.  I am also in the process of testing out a few powder liners, a highlight/lowlight effect, by Anastasia.


To achieve no-smudge winged eyeliner, I ditched the pencil (that I can never get sharp enough) and swapped it for Bobbi Brown's gel eyeliner in a charcoal grey, and a brush, for the oh-so meticulous application. 


I am a total lipstick-over-lipgloss kind of girl, now experimenting with new colors (I am usually a nude girl, right now my go-to is Soft Nude by Revlon).  My new go-to lipsticks consist of bold reds, plums, neon pink, and coral.


I think it's totally important (and fun) to try out new products, to be able to find those keepers that you really love!

my lunch break usually consists of running some sort of last minute errand, sharing a dish at Pei Wei with my mom, and a pit stop at the Loft somewhere in between.  spring lines are already showing their colors, and Loft is not holding anything back this season.  the store all toghether is its own 'pop of color,' within the strip mall that it sits in.  drowning in neons and navy, nautical ensembles, while simultaneously realizing that my style is becoming a little more tailored these days.  i now am obsessivly enjoying a great pair of structured trousers and i've started to like outfits that actually match.  it seems to be a good thing for me, to have some structure in my life, or in my wardrobe at least...

mustard yellow

i could re-organize my closet every day if I had the time.  for now, Iive settled on color-coding, which is not only aesthetically pleasing, but has turned out to be pretty functional as well.  i decided to monochrome my closet when it started trending here, and since then it has influenced lots of easy, no-think, monochrome outfits.  mustard hues are actually new to my color pallet.  it all started with this dress, which erika picked out for me as a gift from my boyfriend, and now every time i go shopping i find myself drawn to all mustard yellow clothes and accessories.  next came this slouchy sweater from Forever 21 and then a wallet from Anthropology.  it seems to go great with a light wash jean, and i am

especially loving how well it is complimented by all of my leopard print accessories, like this old belt my grandma recently passed down my way.  the color looks fabulous on Flower as well, don't you agree?

We are so close to our 100th post, and it still feels like yesterday that we were saying, "Hey, lets start writing our own blog!" Not only are we so lucky to have each other, but we are so blessed to have all of you - our followers!  We love being a part of such an awesome and talented community of girls who share the same passions as we do, & appreciate anyone/everyone who has supported us along the way.  There's really nothing more rewarding than to hear all of the positive feedback that we get and that you are enjoying the stuff that we share.  So, we just wanted to say, much love to you all!

Part II

 on the mark is to the after midnight necklace as peanut butter is to jelly.

This vest is just one of those pieces that is just such a great find, that we both had to have it.  So we [our mom] bought two.  Being able to dress it up or dress it down, I'm sure each of us will be able to really make it our own.  Three years separate us apart, but sometimes it really seems we are the same person.  Unknowingly, I have that blouse in mint green, and those earrings and both of those necklaces were on my first seasonal Stella & Dot order, before I even knew she had put them on her Christmas wish list.  Coincidences?  I think not.

Winter Vests [Part I]

That little spotlight was just asking for me to stand in it.

After this Christmas, Erika and I's vest collection has become pretty impressive.  But the next trendy collection I want to start is most likely going to be: colored pants.  All of my clothes seem to be black or brown these days, so it's the perfect way for me to add those pops of color that my outfits so desperately need.  But most importantly, be prepared to see a lot of sleeveless layering going on over the next few months, specifically, over the next few posts, because this is just part one of an awesome three part series.  And who knew how much use we would get from a small, red handbag?  You first saw it here and here,  and we hope you aren't sick of it yet, because we love.  The best part of this post is that minus the shoes and the jewelry, this outfit was put together for under $100, so for once, I am not fashionably broke after all!  Don't tell anyone, but this fur vest is from our good 'ol discount super store, Costco.  Gosh, I love a place where I can get my toilet paper in mass quantities and a great, collared, fur vest all in one place.
