boyish charm

DSC_0194 DSC_0195 DSC_0197 DSC_0207

there are enough words in my pictures, right? makes me feel like i don't need to say much!

DSC_0208 DSC_0213 DSC_0214 DSC_0215

i enjoy standing out and one of my favorite ways to do so this fall is by embracing the boyish, sporty trend. i took the trend for a test ride on a cloudy saturday in the city, and thought that a baseball cap was a great place to start. it all began when i showed up at the La Petite Marmoset showroom with some printed skinny jeans on, my converse's and a cropped, graphic sweatshirt and found myself a stellar, navy blue, leather cap and some metal jewels lying around. put it all together and you get my 'boyish charm' look. it comes down to keeping a good balance between the two genders, i think. my next boyish purchase is going to be a pair of isabel marant look-a-like wedge sneakers (like these), which are the perfect balance of girl vs. boy all in themselves.

arriving to the sip and shop event so late in the evening is bound to cause a blogger a panic attack about the chance of the sun going down before shooting a few pics. thankfully, we made it just in time, still catching the golden hour of sun. the scenery was too beautiful and by our instant reaction of snapping away pictures of it all, you would think they never let us out of the city.

we sipped on Prosecco with real hibiscus flower (amazing) for cocktail hour while shopping the new fall collections at Urban Chic Boutique. Then, we had a tasting of Early Mountain Vineyards (the most beautiful winery i actually have ever been to) and other "Best of Virginia" wines, followed by a delicious meal on the back patio while the sun set over the mountains. it was the perfect setting to get inspired for the upcoming fall transition in fashion. i even pulled out this suede mini to embrace this celebration of the season. remember it from last winter? see how i styled it then, here.

you can check out our Facebook Page later today for the rest of the pictures from the Sip + Shop event!

Early Mountain - Erika & I will be back to visit you very soon, and together this time! xx

Tysons Corner PR at Partners, Fresh Look

I have been so thrilled with all of the positive feedback i've received for my new darker, ombré hairstyle (see: after left, before below).  i love it either way, but it's an added bonus when you all love it too.  I can tell you that I owe it all to the PR at Partners of Tysons Corner, and specifically my stylist Nadine.  Nadine is a designer stylist, with amazing prices, who specializes in a range of techniques, such as ombré.  She totally listened to the look that I was trying to achieve and it turned out even better than I had imagined (love it when that happens), a super rich brown with a sleek fade into blonde.  Besides the turnout of my ombré, the whole PR at Partners experience was amazing and I would go hang out there every day if my schedule would allow.  Nadine made me my favorite, a green tea, as I jammed to their awesome playlist, followed by a relaxing shampoo and a head massage in a huge, reclining chair.  You can visit their website here to see which stylist is the best match for you.

You can, too, come experience the new flagship Fresh Look store at PR at Partners in Tysons Corner and receive your new and improved fresh look, a part of the newly launched Fresh Look program.  I love this program because they will not only update your look, but also prepare you with all of the knowledge and tips that you will need to maintain your fresh look in the seasons to come.  Okay, so here is the (exciting) main point that I am getting at - their newest program, Fresh Look Studio.    With this program, they are offering complimentary student hair cuts every Monday night beginning at 6PM.  Cutting director, Nick, will be leading his team of apprentices in giving you your fresh new look, so get excited!

Call PR at Partners Tysons Corner at (703) 556-3033 to book your appointment for a complimentary Fresh Look Studio hair-cut soon because they (obviously) book up fast!

Another little bit of awesome information - my stylist Nadine is hosting a Hair Styling Workshop on Saturday, August 25th at 10AM-1PM at the La Petite Marmoset studio, where she will teach us how to get our hair styles on trend for fall.  I say, "us," because I will be there in prep for my upcoming trip to New York in September, as she teaches me how to style my hair for NY Fashion Week.  I can't wait and I hope to see many of you there (ticket info below)!

Here's to beautiful, fall-ready hair!

army green

this is my take on how to wear the military/camo trend right now. i love these old cargo skinnies, for right now and for this upcoming fall as well. i am already picturing myself styling them with big slouchy sweaters and ankle boots and loving it! maybe even pairing them with a matching army green cargo vest for a full length military look, like this one, what do you think?

sunday accessorizing

DSC_0701 DSC_0716 DSC_0726 DSC_0748 DSC_0763

my excessive need for accessorizing may or may not be getting out of hand, i know my overflowing jewelry stash can agree. last sunday i may have taken it to a new level, even for me. ankle beading, that i wish all of my sandals came with, gave the allusion of anklet stacking and what i would like to now call the "ankle party." stacking on a few ring favorites next, one Stella & Dot, one Jewel Mint, and a couple of sweet vintage finds. and lastly, i played the necklace layering game with two new Fall Stella & Dot pieces and i pretty much (unintentionally) hit a home run. i love it when that happens - when you pile on a few random things to see what works and it turns out they all work and it's now your new favorite combination. amazing! it's the little things in life, right? :)

paired with these shorts (last seen here) and my newest five dollar Buffalo Exchange find - a lacey, black tank. they just opened one in DC. you can make money selling or spend money buying! check it out!

peplum & stripes

DSC_0811 DSC_0826 DSC_0808 DSC_0823

all of you wanted to know more about Erika's peplum top, that she wore last week to Fairfax's Fashion Blogger's Night Out. it was another boutique find from our beach trip, from Islands By Amity, and our first run with the peplum trend. we love the multi-directional stripes of this top, as well as it's neutral colors. she pairs it so perfectly for with a tan fedora and brightens up her neutral summer look with a pink bag.

boyfriends

it's taken longer than anticipated to find the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans, there is a precise amount of baggy and distressed that i haven't quite found in a pair yet. so, in the mean time i am "borrowing" Erika's American Eagle boyfriends. they are almost too big for me and i love it. best paired with heels, for a casually chic, weeknight outfit. but lets not forget about the crisp, white blouse that i just picked up at the Nordstrom anniversary sale that i am now in a serious love affair with. it was the only one left on the rack and it's a large. this blouse, too, is painting me an easy-chic look in all its great oversized bagginess, just how i like it.

Undeniable Boutique & Belle Mode Intimates Fashion Bloggers Night Out

DSC_0954
before we get in to all the fun stuff, i just want to say a few things about this awesome tuesday night spent with the lovely ladies of Undeniable Boutique for a Fashion Bloggers Night Out (gosh, i love those). firstly, Alicia (the owner) and her team were so welcoming and so much fun. Alicia really gave us some great insight in to the life of a retailer/buyer, as well as to what brands and items she's chosen to carry in her store and why (she's picky and original and we like it!). but really - we all just hung out, drank (alot of) wine and played with clothes. sounds like a perfect girls night to me! go visit Alicia and her team in Fairfax Corner, i promise it's a guaranteed good time and you will want to buy everything. now on to the pictures... but, first things first, how amazing is their space?
