Nine West Holiday Collection by fashionablybrokegirls featuring suede booties

loving what nine west has done this season so much that I had to make sure that all of you were aware that this is happening.  besides the recent release of the pamela boot, their holiday collections, specifically boutique 9, is also doing big things.  how about that first pair?  I loved the miu miu's but I'm loving the price tag on these!  number one is my perfect holiday shoe, number two is the perfect bootie for a night out and number three for every day, practical fashion.  basically, I need them all.

gift guide: the glam girl

it's after thanksgiving and the holiday shopping has officially begun. despite the fact that it may or may not be as fun as shopping for yourself, I'm going to help you with your shopping with a few gift guides over the next few weeks. my first holiday gift guide is specifically for the "glam girl."

because we all have that friend/sister/mom who only deserves wants the best. and her hair is always perfectly curled and you would think she permanently has make-up on because you've never caught her without it (and you want to punch her sometimes? kidding...sorta). well, these are the kind of gifts you get that diva girl.

daily buzz style 9x9: beauty routine makeover

DSC_0228-1 DSC_0235-1

1. Start with a clean face.

2. Mix my daily moisturizer with my tinted moisturizer,
to dilute the color a bit in the winter months, as a foundation for makeup.

DSC_0241-1 DSC_0256-1

3. Wash my hands and apply foundation mixture to my face using my fingertips.

4. Using a concealer brush, I apply concealer under and around my eyes (from the outside
of my brow, in to the corner of my eye and down the sides of my nose) as well as correct any trouble spots.

DSC_0268-1 DSC_0304-1

5. Brush on a pressed powder all over to set the foundation and concealer.

6. Using a brow powder and slanted brow brush, I fill in my eye brows.
*Most important step to a finished face!

DSC_0014-1 DSC_0034-1

7. Using a highlighter pencil, I highlight under my brown to brighten up my eyes, down the bridge
of my nose, and edge of my lips (highlighting here is a great way to pronounce and create perfectly shaped lips).

8. Apply bronzer with a large brush to my cheeks, forehead, nose, chin,
and behind the ear (to avoid any coloring difference between my neck and jaw line).

DSC_0060-1 DSC_0281-1 DSC_0065-1

9. Apply blush to the apples of my cheeks (smiling big is a great way to find the right spot).

10. Using a large eye shadow brush, apply natural colored
eye shadow evenly around and on eyes to brighten and even tones.

11. Using an eyeliner pencil, I line my waterline (the part of my eyelid under my lashes).
This creates a nice, solid line around my eyes. Then using the same pencil, I line my eyes.
(And I don't worry about making the lines perfectly straight because I will be smudging them later)

DSC_0104-1 DSC_0118-1

12. Using a liner brush, I smudge the pencil liner. Then, using the same brush, I apply
gel liner to the outer corners of my eyes to create depth, this time making sure my lines are precise.

13. Apply a dark, neutral shade of eye shadow to the creases of my eyes, using a windshield wiper motion.

DSC_0139-1 DSC_0155-1

14. Apply 2 coats of mascara each, top and bottom.

15. For my everyday look, I simply apply a translucent lip gloss.

DSC_0175-1 DSC_0199-1

16. For added brightness and glow, I use the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick. And you should too.

Voila! The finished product of a new and improved beauty routine.

I realized that I wasn't taking my make-up game serious enough. make-up used to be something that I didn't spend much money on, and sort of slapped on super quickly in the morning, with no real rhyme or reason. so, I decided to make a change.

over the past few months, I have been researching techniques and trying out new products, picking a choosing what works for me along the way. this is what I have come up with, and so far it's working out just the way I intended it to. it has been a subtle change, but I now appreciate my attention to detail. and, not only has my new routine made me feel pretty, but the confidence I have when doing it is really the best part.

I really hope you learned something new today or maybe I inspired you to enhance your own beauty routine. I tried to keep my steps simple and concise, but if you have more specific questions, please leave them in the comments and I will be happy to help! And as always, thanks for stopping by, we love ya for it! xx N

h&m lucky picks

DSC_0319 DSC_0310 DSC_0301

Lucky Magazine and H&M collaborated on a super fun project, Lucky Picks, where four awesome bloggers were asked to round up their favorite H&M picks of the season. and then they made it super easy to shop these items at the H&M stores.

the blogger picks have special tags on them indicating they are a "Lucky Pick," and when I spotted this colorful, abstract print and noticed they were printed leggings, hand-picked by one of my favorite bloggers, The Brooklyn Blonde, it was a no brainer. plus, side note - I'm totally into fuschia right now. I don't think you can ask for much more out of a $9.95 purchase.

have you been shopping the H&M Lucky Picks?

new, repurposed + vintage

DSC_0115 DSC_0109 DSC_0105 DSC_0129 and now onto my tribute to the Violet Boutique Fall 2012 Lookbook and Ashley Turchin DSC_0194 we passed the infamous spot and i naturally couldn't help myself :)

this outfit wasn't one of those centered around one star piece, i truly love each part of it, each in it's own way. firstly, i want to celebrate the fact that i typically buy dresses for specific occasions and never wear them beyond that, until now. i've decided that i not only want to start wearing more dresses in general, because i think a dress is too cute in the fall paired with tights and boots or booties, but also that i want to start repurposing those special-occasion dresses. this forever 21 baby doll dress was perfect for a wedding, but is now perfect to be dressed down, which leads me to the "new" of this shoemint flat booties. i love everything about them, from the taupe color to the dainty details and they have been on serious repeat lately. and last but certainly not least is my vintage Levi's jean-jacket - one of my favorite finds. ever. so let's give equal attention to all parts of this outfit, shall we?

last night Meg Biram (formally of Mimi+Meg) celebrated 5 years of blogging and the launch of her new website. the event was hosted at Wink boutique in Georgetown, and featured deliicious treats from whisked!, drinks from Total Wine, Kendra Scott jewlery, + more! a ton of great bloggers and friends were there also, so it was so much fun, too much fun, to not share about.

if you are not already stalking her blog every day - start doing so now, and thank me later. on top of running an uber-successful blog, Meg also offers brand consulting services, hosts educational seminars all over the country, which are known to be pretty amazing, and is an artist. Meg is a constant inspiration and I am happy to have been able to meet her through blogging. plus, as you can see above, she hosts a good party, which is always a great quality in a friend :) congrats again, Meg! xx
