Tadashi Shoji Fall 2013

DSC_0642 DSC_0628 DSC_0644 DSC_0645 2 DSC_0650 DSC_0652 DSC_0654 DSC_0655 DSC_0656 DSC_0658 DSC_0659 DSC_0661 DSC_0663 DSC_0665 2

Here's a few looks that we caught coming down the runway at Tadashi Shoji. They aren't shot from the press seating (which is straight on) but I enjoy that they are realistic of our experience at the show. Hope you do too!

Tadashi Shoji was great because everyone could relate to it. It was one part romance and one part Downtown Abby. I could wear any of these pieces and feel sexy or sophisticated easily the same. We love a show filled with outfits we can work into our everyday lives, but there's also something about a show filled with formal-ish dresses that excites us. It takes me to that place in my mind where I am a fancy pants, hopefully living in another era, and maybe in another part of the world. Whether a show takes you to the streets or takes you to a fantasy, each one is equally as great as the other. My imagination is being tested and inspired, and fulfilled for that matter, so thank you Tadashi Shoji. We are all for the lace, feathers and velvet, just as much as we are into the bold blues and purples in your outfit, on the first day of New York Fashion Week. Congratulations and we were happy to be a part of it!

Signature Style

Dr Pepper is known for being one of a kind itself, but now they are taking the time to celebrate other "individuals who define paths by treading their own." Staying true to myself and embracing my individuality through fashion and style is so important to me. So, when asked to share a little bit about what makes my style my own, on behalf of Dr Pepper, I was more than excited to talk about what makes me, ME!

SO - I'm sure there is some mathematical formula that says if you make "x" amount of money, you probably shouldn't buy shoes over "x" dollars. And I'm pretty sure I didn't follow that equation when I bought my first pair of Wangs. But then there's my jacket, which is LPM vintage, that I got for like eight dollars.

I just love telling both shopping stories. How Wangs in my size were on major sale - I got them at an unreal price. and my jacket cost less than my shampoo does. Mixing designer and vintage is a part of what makes my style unique, and I love it.

I love the thrill of shopping and being a girl and being able to embrace my own personal style and this is exactly what this blog is meant to be about. It's just too much fun. So, stay fashionably broke, ladies! Buy what you love. Wear what you want. You only live once. And if you have an AMAZING deal story to tell, we are begging you to share. please. It makes us giddy inside!

Be sure to check back in because I will soon have more information for you on how to enter the Diet Dr Pepper Sweepstakes, kicking off on March 4th, when you will have the chance to show off your signature style and win one of thirty amazing one–of-a-kind prizes!

With delicious one of a kind taste and zero calories, Diet Dr Pepper is as unique as you are. We know it's a long road to get to who we're meant to be. Along the way, we make choices, we make mistakes, we get up, and we keep going. And like an amazing work of art, we become one of a kind. At Dr Pepper, we celebrate all that makes us an original, from your unique style to adventurous spirit. To check out more one of a kind stories, watch our films at www.youtube.com/drpeppervideos.

Comfortable Pants

RVCA Jacket, Zara Tee, Joe's Leggings, Jessica Simpson Shoes, Street Level Bag

Joe's came out with a pair of legging-jeans that are the most comfortable thing your legs have felt since, um, ever. they look like jeans, as in they have pockets, a zipper and even a button, but they are super stretchy and feel like butter. Erika found them and, being the kind sister she is, got me a pair too. these are one of the THOSE things that aren't shareable. we just two of things sometimes. which happens to be much like the idea behind our new Tumblr page, "we'll take two." have you seen it yet? it's a chronicle of all of the things that we NEED two of (our poor mom, who has been dealing with this for years). check it out here - hope you like!

Yay, metallic jeans!

DSC_02792 DSC_0268 DSC_0267 DSC_0272 DSC_0275

Rag & Bone Boleyn Blazer, Men's Public Opinion Tee, BDG Metallic Jeans, Alexander Wang 'Kim' Boot,
Jennifer Zeuner + Zina Boutique Necklaces, Loft Chandelier Earrings,
MAC Lipstick in 'Pink Nouveau,' NYX Curve Liner

"yay!" is how I felt when I found these jeans. it was during our last minute shopping haul before new york fashion week that every girl clearly takes when they are about to go to new york fashion week. this is a time where more is less and when you just don't care about money or how many times you've said you don't need to buy any more clothes. during this time there is serious outfit planning and you will only settle for the best. these pants, and this whole outfit, is full of texture and I think that's what makes me love it so much. all together, they are what make an interesting outfit in general - the shiny, metallic jeans, the ombre blazer that appears to be tweed but isn't, the layers of necklaces, and the wall paper of the hotel hallway just really helps the whole situation. I'm a visually stimulated person, so it's just so appealing to my eye. I wore this out for dinner with the girls before the madness of fashion week began and I'm still missing our home away from home, the lincoln center's friendly neighbor, the empire hotel. see you in september!

ps - do you love our new header and blog theme? we hope the whole black and white aesthetic represents us as well as we think it does. thanks Morgan for our new header and being so patient with our five million requests! ;)

The Fashionably Broke + Run MS

GN5C8853 GN5C8854

If you missed the event then you missed the big outfit reveal! Jamie (left) was big in to being comfortable while she works, so we put her in leather leggings and a Lush, cobalt blue, high-low tunic from Nordstrom. Michelle (right) has more of a girly-girl style, so we put her in a lace skirt from Forever21 and a peplum tank from Nordstrom. I think the touches of leather put the 'Fashionably Broke' stamp on their outfits and they loved it just as much as we did.

On Natalie: Blazer via South Moon Under, Leather Leggings, Loft Tee, Zara Wedges,
Stella & Dot, Jennifer Zeuner Necklace.

On Erika: Trouve Tee, Georgie Track Pants, Zara Pumps, Jennifer Zeuner Necklace, Loft Bracelet.

Emerald Robinson, of The Daily Orbit, wore a floral dress with back cutout and necklace from Nordstrom. Miss DC, Sarah Hillware, was also in special attendance.

Special thanks to PR at Parters of Tyson's Corner for providing hair and make-up for all of the ladies that we styled. Bella and Kai did an amazing job!
