You might not be able to upgrade your seat, but no one can stop you from upgrading your airport style!
Travel day style is always the trickiest for me. Sometimes there’s even more that goes into what I’m going to wear on the day I’m traveling (especially if by plane) compared to what I’ll wear once I get there. There are 3 things I always factor in when deciding what to wear to the airport:
1. It has to be comfortable and warm, I’m always cold on airplanes.
2. I still want to look put together for when I land. And for a cute airport #ootd picture, of course!
3. I always try and wear some of my bulkiest items (ones that I want to bring along with me to wear during my trip) so that I don’t have to pack them, like big shoes and coats or jackets.
That all being said, there are a few pieces that I’ve found to check all 3 boxes for me. A fun pair of sneakers or platform espadrilles is always a must-have for me on trips where I’ll be doing any sort of walking. I love styling sneakers with dresses too for day-time looks. Since these usually end up being on the bulkier side, compared to sandals and my heels, so I usually wear these on the plane. If I’m not wearing sneakers on the plane, I usually opt for a pair of mules because they’re so easy to slip on and off through airport security.
I recently tried out the biker shorts trend and I LOVE it. They are just so comfortable and look great paired with a chunky sweater or jacket and are chic enough to arrive in style to wherever you might be going (to warm-weather destinations only, of course). I found this matching set, a cotton bra and biker shorts, and I wore this on my flight home from Miami. It was perfect to bum around in on the last day and comfortable enough to fall asleep in on the plane.
See below for some of my other favorite travel pieces, that you can easily work into your looks on your travel day as well as once you reach your destination, like jumpsuits, sweatshirt dresses and oversized blazers (perfect for layering on over a dress for dinner).
