Having a morning routine truthfully doesn’t come easy to me. I’m more of a roll out of bed, stumble to the coffee pot and start frantically replying to emails from my phone type of girl. But if I dedicate even 15 minutes to a few morning rituals I know I’ll be thanking myself for it later. Here are some things you can incorporate into your morning routine to help set yourself up for a successful day:
+ No screen time. It’s super tempting to start scrolling on your phone first thing in the day but the instant stimulation can alter your entire mood for the day. I like to wait until I get to my desk to start scrolling the feed that way I don’t get stuck in bed doing it.
+ Journaling. Just writing down a few of the thoughts you have in the morning will get them down on paper and leave your mind feeling clear. You can also easily google “journal prompts” if you need some inspiration, or just simply writing down 2-3 things your grateful for can work wonders.
+ Drink water. I try to drink a tall glass of water on an empty stomach, before my cup of coffee. That way I know if I don’t drink any water until lunch at least I’m not just running on caffeine. I also enjoy a warm lemon water to sooth my gut if I’m feeling bloated from the night before.
+ Make the bed. I am the actual worst at this, but I never have ever regretted it afterwards. You will feel productive and want to accomplish another task.
+ Speaking of productivity, tackle your most important task of the day first. That way you’ve checked it off of your list and you can ease through the rest of your day.
+ Put on a chill playlist. I love something with a bit of a tropical vibe to make me feel like I’m on vacation (because who isn’t happy on vacation?). Music also helps drown out any negative thoughts I might be having.
+ Stretch. I am literally obsessed with stretching. It’s a great way to wake up your body, get the blood flowing and create some endorphins for the day without having to do a full workout. Everyone has 3 minutes for a quick stretch or flow.
