Wedding Guest

One of my favorite online reads for trend scouting, outfit inspiration and to simply discover something I haven’t seen before is Farfetch’s Style Guide. I recently came across an article that spoke to me – “Dresses To Wear To A Wedding” – Which ultimately resulted in me ordering this dress. Inspired by the Style Guide, and with two weddings down and one to go this year, I thought I’d share some of the dresses I’ve worn so far and a few tips for finding the right dress.

My biggest tip is to not procrastinate. You’ll be wearing the dress for a long period of time, eating in it, drinking in it, and likely taking a lot of pictures, so you’ll want to make sure it’s something you really love being in. Once you know the location and dress code, you can start shopping.

Finding the right dress can be tricky because there are rules and etiquette to follow. Only making matters seemingly more difficult, some of the best dresses only come in white. To avoid wedding guest fashion faux pas, try blush pink or gem tones like lapis blue & yellow citrine.

For a wedding in June, I wore a form-fitting, midi length dress by Cinq à Sept. It felt sophisticated, sleek and uncomplicated. For the most recent wedding, in July, I wanted to go in a completely different direction so I wore the mini wrap dress I’m wearing here. I really loved this one, it was comfortable and unique.

With fall wedding season coming up, the best advice I can give is that the more time you give yourself, the more fun you can have finding the right dress. Even though the occasion isn’t about you, it doesn’t mean you can’t take the opportunity to splurge or find a new piece you really love. I’ve listed some of my favorite wedding guest dresses for you below and be sure to check out the Style Guide on Farfetch for more inspo!
