PHOTO DIARY: DoubleTree Ocean City

A few weekends ago Wes and I took a road trip to Ocean City, Maryland, about a three and a half hour drive from D.C.  I used to go there for day trips growing up with my girlfriends, so I was really excited to go back with Wes this time!  We live for our weekend getaways.

But before you get to Ocean City, I have recommend stopping at Assateague Island.  It’s BEAUTIFUL!  It’s a quaint, ocean front natural park and wildlife refuge right on the beach.  Most of the time you’ll see wild horses roaming around which is an added bonus. 🙂  We had lunch at the cutest little cafe and surf shop.  The sandwiches and coffee were delicious!

When we arrived in Ocean City, we checked in at our beautiful ocean front room at the DoubleTree.   I loved staying here because as a Gold Hilton Honors member, we enjoyed free Wi-Fi and a complimentary continental breakfast.  And nothing beats waking up to the sound of the ocean, right?  Before breakfast, we just hung out on the patio and watched the surfers.  A perfect morning if you ask me!

It was actually pretty chilly out at night, so I loved being able to just dine in at the hotel.  The Marlin Moon Restaurant was delicious and not too crowded.  We had fresh, local oysters, followed by lobster and filet for dinner!

And, of course, a trip to Ocean City wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the famous, oceanfront boardwalk!  Wes dragged me to the arcade and then I took him on my own personal boardwalk food tour – Thrashers french fries, fresh lemonade and funnel cake!  #YUM
