As many of you know I’ve been prepping for my wedding in April and skincare is a top priority for me right now so that I can feel confident on my wedding day. I didn’t try a ton of products in February, so I decided to focus on two that I have been testing and both are related to acne – Which I know some of you struggle with too!
It never fails. Whenever I don’t drink enough water, take off all of my makeup properly (I preach about double cleansing but don’t always follow my own advice), drink too much wine, or am hormonal, I break out. And I know from experience that dealing with acne can be exhausting and expensive, but I’ve learned over the years that it really doesn’t have to be.
Acne is annoying enough and breakouts for me usually result in post-acne marks too (my biggest insecurity that I edited out of photos for years). But after years of experience, I’ve learned that there are ways to treat my biggest skin insecurities without spending a ton of money or using a ton of products. The trick really is – Get back to the basics, with ingredients that are tested and work.
During a recent trip to Target – And after stalking the Studio McGee collection – I headed over to the beauty isle to see what products Neutrogena had that might be able to help. Neutrogena products have worked well for me in the past so I bought two products: The Stubborn Acne Morning Treatment and the Stubborn Marks Night Treatment. I’ve been using both for 3 weeks now and they’ve been an easy and effective step to add into my normal skincare routine to help control breakouts and lightening my acne marks:

+ In the mornings I use the Stubborn Acne Morning Treatment, which is made 2.5% micronized benzoyl peroxide and works all day to kill acne causing bacteria. You can apply it multiple times throughout the day, which I was able to do because it wasn’t irritating or super drying. In terms of application, I apply the product directly on any active acne, right after cleansing, as well as the areas where I typically break out (around my chin and jawline) to help prevent any new breakouts.
+ At night, I’ve been applying the Stubborn Marks Night Treatment with Retinol all over to treat post-acne marks and help even out skin tone overall. Any acne marks I had before have lightened a lot since, as seen in the photo above!
Both benzoyl peroxide and retinol are both ingredients that my dermatologists have prescribed me in the past so I felt confident about these beauty buys (Totaling under $20 – Truly can’t beat that). They’re kind of like the staples of acne treatment in my book so I was excited to get back to the basics and I have been seeing results in return. I don’t know about you but Neutrogena is also always a brand I come back to because they’re truly the experts and their products work.

PRO-TIP: I find that when you use multiple products from the same brand they’re more effective. So I’d recommend trying both of these together if you’re going to try it to get the best results possible!
I plan to keep using both in my skincare routine, and will keep you posted if anything changes, but I would 100% recommend the line!

Special thanks to Target for sponsoring this post, as always all opinions are my own.
